LET IT SHINE (2012)

A teenage boy enters a songwriting contest but must take a back seat when they think the winner is his best friend. Being shy and a little awkward, the boy plays along so his friend can take the credit and live out the both of their dreams. The movie was…meh. The music and story were OK, but what really bugged me was the characters. I really wasn’t rooting for any of them. I know we are supposed to root for the main boy to win the girl and confess that he is the talented rapper/songwriter, but I just couldn’t. The movie just didn’t get me to like him. I didn’t hate him, but I didn’t care. And it’s hard to be into a movie when you don’t care much about the main characters.
