SKY HIGH (2005)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

I remember seeing this one in the theater. I still like Kurt Russel’s performance in this. He’s perfect as the egotistical, little dopey, superhero dad who just wants his family to be the ultimate super family fighting crime “side by side by side”. This movie is cheesy, but it is meant to be a little bit. It definitely is meant to be just for fun and not to be taken too seriously.

GO FIGURE (2005)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

A girl must take a hockey scholarship in order to train with the best ice skating coach. Only with this coach can she become a world renown figure skater. Only one small problem, she has never played hockey. It’s the cliche story of what seems to be a rivalry between hockey and ice skating. Each side thinks the other is easier and stupid. Of course the girl learns to love hockey as much as ice skating and everything turns out peachy keen. And let me just say that I feel like the ice skating double for the lead actress could have been a better match. You can clearly tell that is not her doing all the axles.

PHINEAS & FERB: ACROSS THE 2ND DIMENSION (2011)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

If you have not seen the TV series, Phineas & Ferb, it’s actually very clever and funny. One that adults can enjoy as well as the kids. In this movie, Phineas & Ferb discover, and get trapped in, another dimension. They must get back before their reality is ruined. If you are fans of the show, you will love the movie. If you aren’t or have never seen the show, I think you may get a kick out of it anyway.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1951)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Oh man, here we go. I love a lot of Disney movies, but this is my absolute favorite Disney movie of all time. Ever since I was a kid, I have been hooked on the movie and the story of Alice in Wonderland. I must have seen this movie more than a hundred times. I loved this little girl and related to her need to escape into a world that was completely different than reality. I was enchanted by her adventures and couldn’t wait to travel the world to have adventures of my own. Even to this day, Alice is my favorite character. This movie is just so magical and one of the great classics of Walt Disney animation.

SAVAGE SAM (1963)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Did you know that Old Yeller has a sequel? Us either. Savage Sam is about the same family but this time around the boys have been kidnapped by Indians and it is up to their new dog, Sam, to help find and save them. Just as a side note, there is no way that the dog in this movie is a descendant of Old Yeller. Sam grew up to be a different breed than he was as a puppy. The movie felt long and got boring and wasn’t nearly as captivating as Old Yeller, but there is still a cute dog to watch.

OLD YELLER (1957)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Oh Old Yeller, Old Yeller. If you have read earlier reviews of films with dogs in it, you already know that I am a baby when it comes to dogs getting hurt in movies. So this movie…just…this movie. If you haven’t seen it, why not? It is a classic. It will tug at your heartstrings and make you want to go out and get a puppy. And if you don’t want your kids to know how it ends, just do what Pheobe Buffet’s mom did. If you are a “Friends” fans, you know what I mean, if you aren’t then you don’t deserve to know.

COLLEGE ROAD TRIP (2008)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Ready to laugh and watch a movie with Raven, we started College Road Trip. Yes, Raven did make us laugh a few times, but overall this movie is just ridiculous. And not a good ridiculous. We got bored and a lot of the story just seemed too unrealistic so we weren’t buying it (check out the skydiving scene and tell me that could actually happen, even in movie world.. I dare you.)  If you are fans of Raven, like us, this movie can be skipped. However, fans of Donny Osmond should watch the movie. His character and his character’s daughter were perfectly annoying.

JUNGLE 2 JUNGLE (1997)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

When watching a movie, there are a few things that are dead giveaways that it is from the 90s. Tim Allen starring in it is a one of those things. You may watch this movie and think it is cheesy or unrealistic, but it’s one from our childhood that we both loved. I remember thinking how crazy it was that the boy had a pet tarantula. This movie is just good clean 90s fun. Seriously, give it a chance if you haven’t already.

PONYO (2009)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Wow. This movie is weird. Creative, but weird. Why does Ponyo want so badly to leave her family and be human and live with the human family? Is Ponyo a fish? How is she a fish if her father looks human and her mother is some ocean goddess? Or is Ponyo a goddess in the making? How did Ponyo’s father and Mother meet and get together? This story left me with so many questions. And the boy Ponyo meets is only 5. Why did his mother leave him alone in the house, let alone the fact that is was during an awful storm? That shouldn’t be. I am glad I finally checked out this movie. While the animation is beautiful and the weirdness of the story is actually part of it’s appeal, I don’t think it’s one I need to recommend as a must see.

THE PACIFIER (2005)

[ezcol_1fifth]    [/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Vin Diesel? Good. Lorelai, I mean, Lauren Graham? Good. The Pacifier? It’s okay. While it did give us some laughs and we were entertained throughout, it isn’t one of the greats. Kids will love that craziness and others will enjoy the Vin Diesel shirtless scene, but overall it is pretty cheesy. If you see it on TV, go ahead and check it out, otherwise, you can leave it be unless you are Lauren Graham fans like us and just need to watch it because she is in it.
